Vision

Does a picture paint a thousand words?

Have you ever looked at one of God’s creations and been speechless, or at best could only sigh?  The majesty of the mountains, the vastness of the ocean or the smell after the rain.  How much more speechless are we trying to describe the One that created all of it?  The closest we can come to communicating the Goodness, the Glory, the indescribably Awesomeness of God is through art.  There is something that is communicated through art that words just fall short of.  A picture paints more than a thousand words.  As part of the Worship and Fine Arts ministry, the Technical Arts Ministry serves God by helping to communicate His Glory through art.

Areas of Ministry

There are three areas in the technical arts that we serve.  Lighting, Sound, and Video.  No experience is required.  We will train you.  Each area requires a commitment of time on your part for training and then, once up to speed, a scheduled commitment of  2 weekends on and from 2 up to ? weekends off.  Weekends off are based on the number of ministers serving in that area.

Lighting:

Our lighting system is run from a PC-based program.  You will be responsible for creating the lighting program and then running that program during the worship services.  Part of creating the program may involve moving/repositioning some of the lighting fixtures by using a lift on the platform, and working in the ceiling pockets above the worship center.  (If you are afraid of heights, we can work around this.)  Once you are familiar with the lighting program, the creation of the program takes approximately 1-3 hours and needs to be done before Sunday (usually a Thursday, Friday or Saturday).  Sunday start time is around 7:30 and ends at the end of the services.  The start time (and end time) will vary.  The only requirement is that you are comfortable operating a PC.

Video:

All you see, (and don’t see), on the projection screens is generated by two PC programs, PowerPoint and Media Shout.  The announcement loop is a PowerPoint slide show.  Everything else, song lyrics, videos and Bible verses are run from Media Shout.  You will not create the presentations, you will only run them.  We will train you in both programs to become familiar enough with them to make last minute changes (i.e. adding or removing a verse, changing a font or a background, etc).  Sunday start time is around 7:30 and ends at the end of the services.  The start time (and end time) will vary.  The only requirement is that you are comfortable operating a PC.

Sound:

Our sound system is based around an analog 48 channel mixing board.  You will be responsible for setting up the microphones and the production of all aspects of audio.  In addition to mixing you will be responsible for recording the service and the uploading the message to the internet.  Sunday start time is around 6:30 and ends after the end of the services.  The start time (and end time) will vary.  In addition to being comfortable operating a PC, the only other requirement is an ear for sound.  You may, or may not have this.  The only way to find out is to try it.  We can train you on the rest of it
